My response to @keithpp’s constant bullying of @teamwesty

As I’m not sure my reply to Keith’s blog (http://keithpp.wordpress.com/2012/07/13/using-internet-and-social-media/) will actually be published, please see below. The man is unbelievable.

Keith. There is no right or wrong way to do twitter. I cannot understand why you continue to spew your vile, hatefull, poisonous , misguided “advice”. The West End Centre have a conversational style and instead of pushing marketing messages down their followers throats 24/7 understand that twitter is more than an updating service. You may not like what the Westy has to say but I can assure you that I, and many others, do. So being as you can’t change what they tweet about, why don’t you just unfollow and stop constantly bullying them. I am sure they can do without your constant harassment. With all due respect, you really do need to get a life and find something marginally more important than worrying what a local art centre has to talk about. And I’d love to know the experience you’ve gained to enable you to hand out the advice you do, particularly to musicians… Any bands you’ve nurtured with this sage advice? The people involved with the Westy have given so much to local artists, and will continue to do so. You however will hopefully disappear into the oblivion from which you came.

This. Tonight. Here: event details

This is on Thursday, and Ape Up have pulled out, and we’re playing a stripped down/acoustic-but-not-acoustic set. Stoked.

Things I learned before 9am this morning

(First cycle to work)

6.45 I really shouldn’t have pressed the snooze button twice

7.40 My bike doesn’t really fit into my polo properly

8.00 Helps to lock your car before sealing the envelope that will house your keys

8.05 May even burn enough calories to cover the two pieces of cake I had yesterday

8.10 There are a lot more hills in Surrey than you can see by car

8.15 My bike (me) likes downhill. My bike (me) doesn’t like uphill

8.30 Cycling 11 miles to work 2 days before a 10k maybe wasn’t my strongest idea

8.35 Probably shouldn’t have bothered doing my make up before cycling

8.40 Probably never going to cycle again

8.50 May fall asleep by 4pm

8.55 So eating a fat tub of popcorn at the cinema tonight and not going to feel guilty

9.10 May actually do it again

To the people of Surrey, I apologize for making you late for work.

So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, comformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

I hate the saying “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”

I used to have it written on my bedroom door as an emo teenager.

I used to think that to be “tough” was a good thing but I have learnt that it isn’t. To feel the need to be tough means you put up defences and hold on to bitterness.

When bad things happen kids, don’t suck it up. Cry, feel sorry for yourself, then forgive and move on because life is a beautiful thing.

thank you so much for introducing me to brakes! they're a great band, the video you posted on the british sea power tag was wonderful, thanks for posting it!^o^

Pleasure! Glad you liked :)

So I’ve been listening to a lot of British Sea Power recently, a band that had previously passed me by and whilst I do like a lot of their stuff the best part of being introduced to them is discovering Brakes as a result. Whilst I usually get excited about finding new bands, there’s nothing less exciting about ones that you’ve missed. This is one of them for me. Perfect.
